Agressive Reef Inhabitants

Before I decided to make my tank "dedicated" to corals, I had a snowflake eel and maroon clown. The sfe although an agressive eater, doesn't bother anything, not even my coral banded shrimp. The problem is that my maroon clown is a terrorist and most any other fish seems to die in my tank after a few months or less. I would love to give her away, but my gf loves the little bastard. Does anyone have suggestions for reef safe fish that are "pretty" that wont be stressed out from my maroon, and most importantly wont eat my corals?

A full grown Maroon wont change. If its killed fish by stressing them it will continue to do so.

Some fish that can probably withstand the Maroon are Wrasse, the bigger kinds. Not all are reef/inverts safe so be sure to do research on those.

Either than that any fish you put in from now on will need to be the Maroons size or Bye-bye fishy. Full grown Maroons are no joke, they can hang with some of the biggest fish when in FOWLR tanks.

You can spend all that time and trouble or start clean with a small juvi maroon.

Good Luck

Thats easy....just get rid of the girlfriend..J/K

Easier said then done my friend...lol

The eel is passive aggressive. Gets a little agro during feeding time, but doesnt seem to harass anything.

What's the deal with women trying to control our reefs? LOL How bad do you want to ditch yours (maroon)?

I kinda like my maroon....................he picks at my zebra (bar) goby, but does no harm & the goby ignores him. The goby is soooooooo much faster that the maroon has no chance when the goby decides to run. The maroon tried to pick on my coral beauty when I first put teh CB in the tank, but after an "*** beating" by the CB, the maroon doesn't even attemp to nip at him anymore. As long as the other fish don't try to enter the maroon's "den", he normally doesn't even give the other fish the time of day....

Maroons (clownfish) in general dont get ich that easy. Especially if in a controled environment for so long.

Just sell it.
