AI prime on a 47 column?

Hey guys & gals, traded a Tunze 9004 for a used AI prime, so I now I have to start a new tank right?.. lol! :p

Anyways, I was planning on an 18x18" rimless cube as that fits the primes spread. Cube is $125...

However, I just came across what looks like a very clean MarineLand 47 column with matching stand for $60. :eek1:

I believe the dimensions are 20Wx18Dx30T". I'm not so much worried about the 20inch width as I am the 30 inch height.

Think its enough? Most likely will have softies and LPS.

A little info:

" The AI Prime is 45 watts, has a spread of 18" x 18" and has peak PAR of 500µMol at a depth of 12". (That's what I am going off of)

We demoed the light over a 20" x 20" x 20" Current USA Solana aquarium using the new AI Prime Tank Mount and felt it illuminated the whole tank quite well!

However, I found this as well - "AI has provided us (Marine Depot) with new information indicating that the spread of the AI Prime is actually 30" x 30" with a peak PAR of 260µMol at a depth of 12"."... :hmm2:

I'm leaning towards its not powerful enough... So the cube might be the best bet.

Just got off the phone with AI. Looks like a no go on the Column tank for what I wanted to do.

They informed me the maximum penetration depth they would recommend would be 24" for the Prime.

Obviously a different story for a FOWLR tank.
