AI vs Acan Led's

Been researching led's for a while, and my brain is beginning to hurt. Need some advice. I've got a 46 gal bowfront with an Oceanic pvc canopy. Don't want to hang a fixture, but hide inside canopy. Was pretty much hooked on 2 AI Sol modules with rails and feet that would fit in my canopy. What about an Acan A104AC 24" fixture? I think the mounting legs prop it up about 4". Just wondering on a 36" wide tank, how a 24" fixture with 75 degree optics mounted 4" above top rim would work? Tank has that 1 1/2" center brace that's black. Not sure if a shadow would be cast or not. Also, what about light on the sides of the tank?

I really like the Acan LED's, great build quality and good light output. Having said that, I still prefer the AI's in overall performance with them, plus controllability. I would suggest using two modules in that tank, one over each section essentially. You shouldn't have any issues with any type of shadow from that center brace.

Thanks Jeremy. Seems like I always keep coming back to AI.

Jeremy,

With two AI's, the center brace would not come into play, but will I be able to space the two modules to where there are no dark/brighter areas along the 36 inch width of the tank considering that the mounting feet will only have them maybe 3" above the water surface?

Yes, I think you'll be just fine in moving them around so that you don't have any dark spots. The 70* optics will definitely benefit this.
