Aiptasia anemone?

So I'm new to saltwater tank and just figured out I have some aiptasia growing which apparently isn't a good thing from what I read. I really don't mind their look but I guess they are unwanted cuz of their sting. So what about their sting makes them worse than other corals that sting? Am I missing something here of why they suck so bad?

It's not really that their sting is worse than other things, it's the fact that they reproduce very rapidly and can overtake all available space in your tank.

Just FYI, aiptasia are photosynthetic, so technically speaking, you're in the wrong forum. Not that it really matters.

Aiptasia do have a pretty powerful sting, and will win battles with many of the corals we want as pets. It's best to deal with aiptasia when their numbers are few. They may be cute when you have just a couple. When they turn into hundreds, and you can't keep anything else in the tank, they won't be so cute anymore. Kill them now while you have the chance.

Will be getting a peppermint shrimp to finish them off. I had no idea they were photosynthetic. Just figured they wernt since I have no lights. Must be indirect sun thru window that's keeping them goin.
