Just noticed a small cluster of these guys on one of my live rocks and started reading up and the best, safest, and quickest way to remove them without doing harm to my reef. Ive read that lemon juice concentrate, hydrogen peroxide, and other things work but i was wondering if anyone has had first hand experience on how to get rid of these guys. Any help is greatly appreciated! Ill post pics as soon as i can also. Thanks in advance! Happy Reefing.

I bought a peppermint shrimp at creative aquariums a few weeks back and it has eaten all the ones I had in the tank. there werent a lot but it did an awesome job.

Someone told me about Joe's Juice so I am about to give that a try - just came in over the weekend so hopefully it works!

remove the rock with the aiptasis on it. inject the juice and let it die in a bowl. rinse rock off. killing it inside the tank will allow the spores to free float and give rise to more aiptasis.

I am expreamenting with hot vinegar. I am currently testing this out, but so far I have had great results. I major danger here, that I see is the amount of vinegar used in one seasion. Don't want to cause drop in pH. So far I have kill everything in my frag tank, and it has been a week since I injected them. Waiting to see if anything comes back.

I have injected with Alk before, it worked, but had the best luck in the past with P-mint Shrimp. Once in a great while the Copper Banded would pick at them, but not like the shrimp. Have fun, another thing in the tank that will drive you nuts!! Just like weeds in the lawn, that crap grows out of control!!!!!! but the good stuff is another story!

Bergia Nudibranches, Peppermint Shrimp (bought locally and from live-aquaria advertised as aiptaisa eating peppermint shrimp), copperband butterfly, Kalk paste, Aiptasia-X, and even a 1.5 W laser all were failures or made my problems worse.

I ended up re-cooking all my rocks and running the tank with a ceramic bio-pure media cube.

Filter socks did prevent the spreading of Aiptasia though. I had aiptasia everywhere except my skimmer well - which was protected by a filter sock.

Good luck on your issue. So far there's been no bad advice. I do really like this idea more than the rest:
remove the rock with the aiptasis on it. inject the juice and let it die in a bowl. rinse rock off. killing it inside the tank will allow the spores to free float and give rise to more aiptasis.

Set some small rubble on the Aptasias. They will move onto the rubble in a few hours/days when they have moved onto the rubble take the rubble out and throw it away. If that isn't an option use Aptasia X I have not had any luck with shimp.

Joe's Juice

Joe's Juice

So, just wanted to follow up that I used the Joe's Juice - all did very well and it killed the Aiptasia almost immediately. The only problem is the little syringe was not easy to just do a tiny amount as it jerked and caused me to put too much into a small 29g tank. So, I just did a quick water change with some giant cups and all did well - have a few more that I need to finish up with but definitely recommend it for being fast acting and safe for corals and fish.
