I tried this today, and it seemed to work well. I reduced the fitting on a mag24 to 5/8" OD vinyl tubing. The tank is a 15.

Using a 38 gallon trash can for the mag, i simply reached in with the tubing and sucked them out. If you can catch them while they are extended, they are sucked off immediately, foot and all. If they retract, it is more difficult, but they will come off (foot included). I think i can tweak this with some rigid airline tubing for the probe to be "pinpoint accurate". I've yet to try it in my main display, but plan on it in the next day or two.
This rock was completely covered in aiptasia (i mean covered). This is what it looks like after about 15 minutes and around 20 gallons of replacement water.
