I'm looking to get a Aiptasia Eating Filefish/Acreichthys Tomentosus, for my mixed reef.
Does anyone have any experience/problems with them.
I have heard mixed reviews about putting them in a reef tank.
Thank you.
don't have it in a reef, but there have always been a few polyps(GSP, daisy, Palythoa, small leather frag) in the setup, which never seemed to be bugged.
we started with a pair, but lost the male mysteriously, and finally found its skeleton in the rockwork. these fish are pretty timid at first, but do get more bold as long as they aren't with rowdy tankmates. they're pretty fish too...they can be mottled, or solid colors. there was a lot of Ulva in the setup and it turned an amaxing shade of green to match:
I have a pair in my 210 mixed reef. They ate all of my aiptasia, and started on my Acan, but ignored everything else (clams, SPS, Plate, Hammer, and Yellow Leather).
that would be our male red-finned waspfish (Paracentropogon rubripinnis). we have a female as well, but we're trying to get a bit more size on her before we add her to that setup. they're very cool fish.
