aiptasia problem

Hello,
I have a few clams that are infested with aiptasia. Is there a "safe" way to get them off the clam without hurting the clam?
Peppermint shrimp wont touch them and I am afraid a butterfly
will eat the clams as well.....

All help is appreciated.

I mix about 1/2 of a dixie cup of fresh water with about 1 teaspoon of kalkwasser, load it into a syringe with a hyperdermic needle.Just stab them and squirt gently.Works everytime.

I agree, the kalk is your best bet if the aiptasia is on the clam. For aiptasia not on on or very near to anything I use a boiling water injection that is 100% lethal.

As long as the kalk doesnt move slowly across it or settle into the clam then it wont hurt it. Where exactly is the apt. on the clam???? Can you scrape it off without hurting the clam?

I used Joe's Juice to safely kill an aiptasia that was at the extreme edge of the shell of a crocea, under the mantle when expanded. It's a mystery liquid, but it gets high marks from me and others here at RC.

what is Joe's Juice?
A new anti-aiptasia product: Joe's Juice I know that lots of people have had success with kalk paste, peppermint shrimp, boiling water, etc. I have not, and this new stuff has worked quite well for me.

Will a Copperband Butterfly harass clams? I was thinking about borrowing one from a friend to deal with my aptasia issues.

JoesJuice works great, I had about 3 aiptasias on my Crocea, one near the lip of the mantle. Joes juice worked out fine. I would say that you should use a syringe instead of the aplicator that came with it (hole is too big, it leaks out)..

Good Luck!

I just removed just about every rock from my tank last month; scraped and injected aptasia like mad. I still have a ton, and they grow so fast.
