Aiptasia??!!

These little guys have shown up in the last three weeks on my LR and the are sort of brownish in color. I was hoping that they were a sort of worm or polyp, but I hear they could be "The menace". I know this is a rough picture, but they are really tiny still. Any ideas?

Not aiptaisia! You lucked out. It looks to be some type of small feather duster. I have them all over.

Those look more like hydroids to me... a little bit of kalk paste in the face will show them who's boss :)

I think those look like feather dusters of some kind.. a little filter feeding worm... harmless. I have a bunch of them in my tank as well.

They are hydroids, one of many types. I have them as well and haven't had problems but some can be a nuisance.

Thank you all for posting your input. I think I will let them go for now, it looks like they are confined to two specific areas of my tank and would be easy to reign in if needs be.

I looked at some pics of hydroids and have yet to see one that looks like that. The ones I have look exactly like feather dusters but small. They don't look anything like that pic of hydroids.

How about this pic?

I am almost positive they are hydroids. Usually feather duster tubes are white twisty and quite long that wrap around the rock. I could be wrong though..it has happened once or twice. :)

Here is the article I yanked the pic from for reference.

Mine don't look like your pic. Mine are white twisty looking tubes that wrap around the rock. I've been known to be wrong ALOT! :D
