Aiptasia

I identified one aiptasia "head/polyp" on the same rock and my zoanthids. I want to stop it from spreading and remove it. What do I do?

I had a similar situation in which a single aiptasia anemone was on a new rock of zoanthids. I filled up a needle applicator with a paste of kalkwasser and water and injected it into the anemone and all over it. I tried to stab onto the base where it was as much as possible while squirting the kalk. So far it's been 3 months and no signs of survival of the aiptasia. The zoos are doing great though.

if i c that in my reef i remove the whole coral,carefully remove the taliban,diping the coral in a cup of tank water to assure that that dude is history.

I have used Joes Juice before, it worked good. I have also used this product & it to worked very well. You really need to get a good squirt right into the main head of it.....And watch it die.

Personally I'm skeptical about this product...I have two Aiptasia that I wanted to get rid of...they have never produced any others...but when I applied the Blue Vet stuff, it did appear that they were literally melting away...three weeks later, they are back again...yes, the same two. I will give it another try and this time keep applying the stuff (since I still have a bunch of it left anyway) but I just wanted to put my experience with the Blue Vet product out there.

You can try Joe's Juice also. I have used both & they worked for me.

My Copperband Butterfly cleans all the aiptasia out of my zoas without bothering them.

I have 3 CB butterflys and they have all irradicated 3 of my tanks of Aiptasia.

peppermint shrimps have worked well for me.

Agree, I bought 5 peppermints and they wiped the aiptasias out in a couple weeks. Then my wrasses wiped them out

Never any real luck getting rid of them. Hydroxide paste has worked for some, not all. But by far the best method IME.

Or the best methode might be critical examination at the LFS

if you only have the one, zap it with kalk paste. if you have multiple zap with kalk and consider a herd of peppermint shrimp for aiptasia grazing.

i put a peppermint shrimp in my tank and he wiped out 20 of them or so within a week

copper bands and peppermint shrimp work the best, most naturally, but even straight calcium right at them, straight in their dark holes squeeze, squeeze, squeeze. killem, killem, killem all. I mean calcium works too.
