Do aiptasias retract in like feather dusters? and are there tubes clear?

Aiptasia don't have a rigid tube like a feather duster, but they do retract when threatened, except they can retract down completely until they are nothing but a little blob, usually well hidden in a crevice of rock so you can't juice 'em :mad2: .

Their feet, which is probably what you are calling their tubes, are clearish, usually the same color as the oral disk and tentacles.

Why do you ask? ;)

i am asking because there are these things on my rock that dont look like my other feather dusters i have and i thought it might have been aiptasia. They have brown tubes with clear crowns.

i cant get a pic of them since i dont have a camera. ill just have to see if they spread then ill no if they are aipastia.

If you do image search on Google there are lots of pictures of aiptasia, see if what you have looks like that.
