last night i noticed what can be best explained as an air bubble on a scolly, any ideas what this is?

Have you tried pulling its finger?

Joking aside, I had a trachyphilia (pretty sure I spelled that wrong) that bubbled like that when I had a big light change (halide ballast went out, had to run just PCs for a week.) The bubbles worked their way out on their own, it's a stress response I was told. I'd check your water params and bulb ages...also has there been any flow change in the tank recently?

HTH. Beautiful piece ya have there.

lol
no change in lighting, flow etc etc. i check with PAR meter and still tons of light there (over 300 on the sand bed) params are

P04 = 0.01 (hana)
N03 = 0 (salifert)
alk = 7 (hana)
cal = 400

i recently added a melanarus wrasse which disturbed some sand pushing on some corals.

IMO Alk is low I try and keep mine at 9dkh
Ca is a bit low too, if you're running a reef tank.

Those are the types wrasses that burrow into the sand? I'm not too into wrasses...but if you didn't have something already moving around your sand before him, he could have released some nastiness into the water that scolly isn't too happy about or the wrasse could be harassing it when you're not around? That piece is pretty eye catching.

My little guys bubbles were close enough I just gloved up and just BARELY as in FEATHER WEIGHT touched the bubbles to move them in the right directiontl to help "burp" him :)

What's your magnesium? That can cause problems too...actually just got done with a Mg mess myself.

Ah, you did not mention that and in your previous post you said Ca 400...have you checked your test kits for any margin of errors? Somethings stressing the little guy.

Your tank near a window? You're in Australia according to your side info correct? This means you're going into winter? Light from windows could be influence the photoperiod Your tanks used to.

What's your temperature is the temperature stable?

What's your actual lighting? And age of said lighting?

bubble seems to have gone.

I have an ATI power module 10x54W on a 48x24x20" tank, with par readings of 650-700 at the top and 340 - 360 on the sand bed tested 2 weeks ago with the bulbs at 6 months.

From what I remember the bubbles I didn't "burp" worked themselves out reasonably quickly...
Weird, maybe the little guy just did need his finger pulled? Well she's apples now! (I hope I used that figure of speech correctly, used to have a job with a lot of Australians, loved them and listening to them talk!)

If it makes you feel any better, my guy that did this hasn't done it since.
