air bubbles in close loop

intake to the pump possibly? try shutting the pump down for a few minutes a see if you notice any drops of water forming around fittings and pipes BEFORE the close loop pump

But did you check for drips with the pump off? That would be the only time you would see it (intake side only) With the pump on the "hole" would be sucking in the air, venturi effect.

Hmmm, just trying to think of ideas -- how long was it off? When I
had this issue (granted it was on my return line) I didn't notice any drips until the pump had been off for at least 30 minutes.

BTW -- how long has the CL been set up? Could still be the pipes still need to be "coated"

Alway where is the CL intake? Is it close to the water surface?

Ahhh okay. So it isn't a pipe leak.

How close to the water surface is it? Could a vortex be forming?

Also air bubbles all the time? Once in awhile or only at startup?

What brand pump? What size intake pipe? What size bulkhead? How far down are the returns from the surface of the tank?

the pump is a hammer all pipe is 1.5 inches, returns on the right are 4 inches down the returns of the left are 8 inches down all ran on a electronic actuate ball valve
