Air in RO/DI canisters

The RO/DI is an old unit 90 gpd with micron filter, carbon block, RO and DI. Replaced the DI a couple of years ago. There are no visible leaks at any connections.

When water flow is shut off to the RO/DI water continues to run out of the waste line draining down water level in the carbon canister about 50% and the micron filter canister about 30%. I replaced both filters thinking there may be a clogged filter with no success. I've also tried purging the system of air by loosening the connections and allowing the air to escape while the system is under pressure.

Two questions...

Does air infiltration in the canisters compromise the efficiency of the RO/DI ?

If it does what's causing the filters to drain down and how can I fix it ?

Mine does that too. It isn't an issue from what I understand
I've got emails from the manufacturer saying that it doesn't affect the efficiency of the system.

The return line operates for a few minutes after because it is under pressure. It will run until that pressure is gone.

Probably something to do with your water line. It's happened to me also and it works itself out. I tipped the RO/DI unit, loosened the canisters etc.
