air stone

Is it true that adding an air stone into the sump will help fight ich from reoccuring or is this bull? I also heard from another friend of mine that said if you add an air stone with fine bubbles in the tank it will cause the fish to get popeye.
A few months ago I had seen a 210 tank at a LFS that they had an air machine that produced bubbles , and had many different jets in different locations throughout the tank.they were large size bubbles in size
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Airstone are used to help with the gas exchange. Airstones to help fight ich and give a fish popeye, dont think so. I think they are trying to pull your leg. LFS add the airstones to help with their bioloads in tanks and if the tank is medicated the airstone is used to keep oxygen in the tank.
