" it depends" In some cases they are probably essential, in others "helpful", in many inconsequential and probably in a few "detrimental". So... what is your application in this case?

No, really David's got it. You'll have to be ALOT more specific. WHat are you trying to keep? WHat are trying to accomplish? Are trying to avoid/encourage/hinder a certain parameter?
