I am looking through the air water and ice product line. I sgure cant make heads or tails what each one comes with. Anyone know the difference?

Call the support hotline... supposedly they have great customer support. I bought an ebay special (6 stage) for 155 shipped. Standard size canisters, I'll be buying my cartridges and such from them.

Here is how mine looks like under my bathroom sink. Instead of a 4 cartridge rack, I asked them to make me a custom one with a 3 cartridge rack and then a single one for the DI. It cost the same and works the same.

Mine has yet to show any signs of dripping. Its been in use for a good 6+ months now I think.

I did have a problem with one of the fittings leaking but it was replaced by Walter.

I meant that since your output hose is not going into a receptacle does it leak?

Why did you pick that model.

Im probably getting one for christmas! yay

Eric,
was the install under your sink easy? did you have to buy any any adapters?

Anyone,
how do u find out wwhat your water psi is from your sink? is it standard for every house?

My output does not leak at all. In fact I should run it out into my backyard and not waste that water that is being rejected...

I had to go to Home depo to get an adaptor to get the input attachment. BUT just order it from Airwaterice, it will much easier since you will have the correct fitting without trying to look for one at Lowes or Home Depo. There really isnt a hard part to doing the install at all, just the drilling might make you iffy, but dont be. I'm always willing to help you if you need it... or anyone.

As for water pressure I am getting over a little 50ish psi coming into the RO/DI unit. Thats about right from what Walter was talking about at the meeting.

Here's my typhoon III with inline TDS meter. I have 75-80psi coming out of the tap at 30-35ppm. I get 0-1ppm coming out of the ro membrane, and always 0 after the DI stage. Coming up on 2 years and probably 2000+ gallons of water produced, I've only ever replaced the carbon filters. My DI looks to have about 1/2 of its life remaining. With 75+ psi and warm water temps, my 75gpd membrane produces about 110gpd. I'm very happy with this unit.

I would say the best thing is just a Typhoon III, it comes with a TDS meter (not inline) and all the fittings you need to get it running. It makes plenty of water, works great (0 TDS), and customer service is great.

It looks like the only difference between the Typhoon ($139) and the Typhoon III $199 is:

Di bypass
Water check valve
RO valve

THE FAST FLUSH: Sometimes customers ask for a back flush valve. The fast flush should extend the life of the membrane. By Letting you give the membrane a good rinse anytime you want.

THE DI BYPASS: This is a real plus. It allows you to waste the first water produced by your system. When you first start any RO system the water quality is not up to snuff. By opening this valve and wasting that water to drain you will extend your DI Cartridge life.

The RO only valve: a sample port for testing the membrane and for filling jugs of drinking.

So here is the question Who uses these 3 valves and are they worth $60. A 40% premium.

I always discard the initial water when I turn on the unit, and the DI Bypass valve is critical for this. Because of the TDS creep when the unit is off, this is a huge benefit in extending DI life. DI cartridges are $30 each, so this can make a difference, especially if you're hooking a float valve to your sump to have the unit turn on/off automatically.

I occasionally use the fast flush, although I'm not convinced it's critical. The RO only output is useful if you want to use the unit for drinking water as well.

You could probably purchase the parts for ~$25 and do it yourself, if you understand how it works and what needs to be done. You have to decide for yourself if you need/want these things, and what it's worth to have someone else do them for you.
