Alabama Reefers

I just moved to Huntsville from Mobile. I haven't visited any of the local stores yet although I made an unsuccessful attempt at finding Coral Reef Aquatics.

Welcome, HAMsmith!!

Here's the website for Coral Reef Aquatics:
http://coralreefaquatics.com/

Hours and Location page has a map for their shop. Should be easy to find them. The shop is located behind John's house (pink stucco house.) It's set back from the road a little, but you can see their neon "Open" sign from the road.

I didn't get to make it up there last weekend but I did stop by and window shop a few Sundays ago and it looks like he's got back into it full swing, i know i dropped in about 2 yrs back and the selections were minimal and most LPS corals had Aiptasia on them and all the SPS were in a little 10g tank covered with GHA and his 'Book Keeper' was holding down the fort, she quoted 95 bucks each for the 1/2" SPS frags and no extra charge for the GHA on them. the 300g tank had nothing but sand and a couple hundred of the small feather dusters with 25 cent each wrote on the tank :)

Hey Martin! Havn't seen you in awhile and didnt know you had moved. Who are you working for up there now? :strooper:

I know I get mistaken as a rocket vs. rock scientist all the time (j/k yuck yuck)

Finely made it into Aquarium Fantasies this afternoon, Jim was very courteous and talkative even wanted to trade a few frags next time I'm in the neighborhood. i was glad to see the tanks looked allot better then they did the last time i stopped in the old shop in the back.

Aiptasia were still a pretty common site in most of the tanks, but it's getting that way at most any place.

Picked up a nice Toadstool that was out in full blossom a few hrs after introduction to the system. If any of you have been in lately, that perfectly round and beautiful 12" Pagoda has now found a new home in my 75 til i get the 180 moved again.

SDiver got some GSPs at a pretty nice price too.

Next time i will take alot more money!!! I have to say that was the best lfs i have been to.

Jetcat usa was like a kid in a candy store. i want this and that.

I've now visited Lucy's, Aquarium Shop, and Coral Reef Aquatics. I was let down by Lucy's and the Aquarium shop both in the way they keep their shops and service. However, Coral Reef Aquatics is awesome on all levels.

Griffin, I sent you a PM.

Unfortunately the toadstool, i picked up above, has produced 2 Majanos this week. Jim said it came from his home tank, i had inspected the tank it was being held in pretty throughly before purchasing it and didn't notice anything in it (not even aiptasia) or on the coral, the first one i found under the cap after i got it home, the second today was sticking out of a crevice.

We are from Guntersville, AL. I love Coral Reef aquatics in Athen and The Living Reef in Gadsden. They both have nice corals.

I agree with you. The tanks were dirty. I went to Nashville to Aquatic Critter. Very nice tanks and store. I pass thur HSV to go to Athen because John at Coral Reef aquatics is great.
