Alas, poor Yorick!

So I just got done moving my 10gal into a 29gal with the help of my lovely wife. We moved the old rock and added new life rock, creating a reef that is fantastically stable (not moving). It was a few days until I noticed one of my turbo snails has not been running around. I am pretty sure he was lost in the rubble. I've noticed a small ammonia spike, but attributed it to a small cycle. If it is the snail that once was and is no more, should I tear apart my rock to find him or will the CUC and nature do the job without crashing the tank? If he's on the bottom of a rock, buried under the sand would that temper the potential ammonia spike?

Did you know him, Horatio? (Sorry, couldn't resist). I wouldn't tear the tank apart, especially if it's been a few days already, especially if your tank is still cycling. He might just be hiding somewhere. I would probably worry more if the tank is already full of fish and critters that won't tolerate a cycle. If he's sunk down in the sand somewhere, I'm not sure how that affects how quickly the ammonia escapes into the water column. Good question!

Go figure. The bugger just showed up, grabbing a frag and diving off. At least I know it's a cycle from the move and not some poor snail. Now, about the redecorating...
