Alcyonium palmatum

I have an Alcyonium palmatum in my 90g reef. It seems to be doing well, after months of not extending polyps at all. Now it is showing some polyp extension, and I feed it cyclopeeze and BRS reef chili...

The thing is, it won't stay where it's glued. Twice I've glued it to the side of a rock and twice it's broken itself off. I just found it yesterday lying in the sand at the base of the rock it had been glued (very securely) to. Should I just leave it on the sand? Or should I try wedging it into a spot between two horizontal rocks? Will it eventually glom onto a rock and take a secure hold?

I don't think you can glue the flesh on those down, best bet is like you're saying to wedge it between two rocks or lay it on some rubble and then glue it down once it attaches to those.

You can rubber a day it to a rock, then cut it off when it attaches.
Or, poke a toothpick through the stalk on the bottom and glue the toothpick to the rock.

Good lord, auto correct got me, the first suggestion was a rubberband.
What the heck is rubber a day?
