Algae all over glass and sand

Hi

I had a rock in my tank covered in green hair algae. I took the rock out and scrubbed it in a bucket of RO water and didn t rinse it off before putting it back in my tank :headwalls: Now I've got green powder-like algae all over my sand and glass. I've wiped the glass about 5 times a day for two days now and it keeps coming back. What would be the best way to get rid of this. I have a protein skimmer collecting alot of yrllow/green water.

Regards Danny

algae grows when it has nutrients.

How long has the tank been set up?

I agree w/ outy, doesn't sound like hair algae. Might be opportunistic growth now that the hair algae isn't.

water changes will dilute pollutants. ideally.

It's been running for 2 weeks. Its a 13g with 12lbs of live rock. Ammonia is 0.2 nitrite 0 nitrate 5. These readings was from a red sea marine care kit.

Leave it alone for a while. Practice keeping all other parameters stable. Algae will go away on its own eventually, and with help from a cuc once the tank is ready.
There isn't anything alive in there yet, is there?
