Algae coming from mushroom mouth

Ok so I have this new mushroom. Recently the hair algae decided to bloom and around the time I noticed hair algae around my mushroom I saw this sting of what looked like the hair algae. Is think normal? if the mushroom eating it? Is it diseased? I checked it for a couple days in a row and it looked like the same string. I pulled on it a little bit this evening and now it seems there is just a tiny bit of black sticking out of the mouth but no more algae. Did I just kill my fish? To be safe I did a coral dip for 10 mins with Coral Rx. Mushroom wasn't too happy I think. Any thoughts?
