Algae control

Have a good skimmer that can handle double the water volume of the tank.

Do monthly waterchanges.

Have good water movement so you dont have detritus, uneaten food settling to the bottom.

Dont overfeed.

Good advice listed above ^^

Also...

Redlegged Hermits and margarita snails are pretty good at staying alive..... at least for a while and do a pretty good job. I have various types of hermits (all shapes and sizes) and 2 MONSTER sized cats-eye snails that dont seem to get messed with hardly ever.

Sure..... every once and a while my trig an toby puffer pick a few of them off. But cleaning crew is cheap compared to everthing else in this hobby..... and they also make for a very natural snack for predator fish. Just sucks having to pick up the shells and crab legs every once and a while!:D
