I have a new SW tank that I've had for about three months now. It was setup before I owned it but I bought it and have made some upgrades. These are my specs.

37 gallon reef tank
Seaclone 100 skimmer
1 Maxi Jet 900, and one 350 I think
4 bulb vho retrofit system.
Canister filter with no filter media just carbon and phosphate remover. (fluval)

Live rock( Not sure how many pounds but enough looking at other tanks as an example)
2 inch live sand bed.
1 red Mushroom
Several green Zoo's
1 scarlet hermit
2 elec. blue hermits
3 turbo's
3 Astrea snails

PH 8.3
Nitrate 0 as of last friday
Nitrite 0
Salinity 1.024
temp 80-81F
calcium 400-420
ammonia 0

My question is that I've had macro algae in the tank since I started and I went though all the algae stages that I've been reading about with the hair, brown, then cyano, and hair again. But yesterday I noticed allmost all of the algae in the tank dieing off including the hair, macro, and cyano. Is this ok or will it elevate nutrients in the tank and need extra water changes.

This is what you want, the tank is stabilizing and the macro algea is doing its job by absorbing nutrients. Keep up with your normal water changes.

It's not all dead. just seems like about a third of it is losing color. I pruned it back yesterday when I did my water change. Any ideas? Allmost all the hair and cyano is gone though.
