It's Dr. Goodluck Himself
Ok, not just nuisance. It is a plague of cladophoropsis. I have ohter threads here. Please note before replying: I am not interested in confirming ID (I have positive ID), or thoughts on what might eat it or thoughts on tank nutrients. I have covered all that ad nauseum! One specific question here!
My combination of attacks on the algae seem to have finally traumatized my SPS -- a rapid mass extinction event has recently neared the final stages. Fish are all fine.
I have run fresh GFO+carbon and will swap every 7 days for a while, and
did a 20% water change and will continue for a while doing this every few days to a week.
I will still have to feed the fish, which are still alive. So there is potential "food" for the algae. Does anyone know the light needs of cladophoropsis algae? If I go lights out, could I eradicate this mess?
If yes, how dark? Tank is in living room, windows to the east and south
provide ambient light. Would I need to cover the tank for a complete blackout?
For how long? (Note: the algae is EVERYWHERE! Rocks, on glass, on pumps, on and inside overflow. Literally. Everywhere.)
Will the fish be ok? I would need to feed periodically....lights on for 15min
for that purpose?
If you know/have experience I would be most grateful!
