Algae growing on my tang?

Okay, my roommate just lost an acropora which bleached out and had this brown stringy algae growing on it. I wasnt surprised, the tanks only been up for a couple of months, so i didnt expect acropora to survive.

Anyway, this morning we noted a similar brown algae-like material growing on the face and near the tail. Its kind of stringy/net-like. I first noticed it when the actinics came on. An hour later the 'algae' on its face had blown off (i suppose) but it was still present in a small patch over the rear of the fish. This was on his body, not on his actual fin.

Sounds like a fungal infection. Not much you can do to treat but increase water quality and reduce stress.

I would suspect that the tang swam near/in the algea, some got stuck on its face (then "blew" off) and some got caught on its barb (the white thing). Nothing wrong with the tang other than its aim.
