algae growth in top off resivor

should i worry about algae growth in the fresh water of my top off resivor? It recives light from my fuge and just want to make sure that this wont hurt anything. Thanks

I've never had a problem with alge in the top off reservoir.
Of course, I go through 5 gallons a week.

I was going through about 3 gal a day.

what kind of water are you using? RO/DI should not be able to have alage in it at all, mine sits under a window and never has any in it

my water goes through an aquarium pharmasudicals filtter. It is not RO/DI but has no waste water. It does contain phoshpates so algae can grow.....no algae problems in the tank. Water here is excellent.

dont those things cost like 50 bucks? and arent the filters like 20? For those prices (i may be wrong) why dont you just invest in a 6 stage, RO/DI filter? You can get them on ebay for about 110 shipped.... just a thought...then you would know that you were getting superior water quality....

it is not so much an expense thing. I don't like the idea of having waste water in such a dry climate. But this is all beside the point....the question is will algae in my resivor cause me problems.

im pretty sure that the algea wont be a problem....

If there is no algea in the tank, there should be no problem.

The only problem it can cause is the cloging of any pumps or tubing, thats it, but if you keep a eye on it you will be fine.
