I think I know what kind of algae this may be, but I want to get some other opinions. I have previously battled green hair algae, which is almost 99.9% gone, now this stuff has popped up really fast, this much growth has occurred in just a few days, almost out of nowhere. The pics are pretty good, but I would descrivbe it as golden brown and stringy, it is on rocks, glass, and sand.

My tank is about 2.5 months old, finished cycle about 5 weeks ago. I am pretty sure I have been overfeeding, trying to get that figured out. I just want to get opinions on WHAT this is.

In this third pic, notice it growing on the sanil shell in the top right area of the pic and the back of the glass behind the shrimp.

Closeup of stringy stuff on glass, ignore the green hair algae, I'm not worried about that, I have it pretty much beat.

Those are looking like dinoflagellates.
There is no 100% way in treating them.
The way I handled mine was doing lights out for 72 hours in total blackness, siphoning them out manually, dripping kalkwasser, and using prodibio digest.
good luck, they are toxic to your livestock in large quantities so you can't ignore it!

I was afraid they were dinoflagellates.
I did read that these are toxic to snails, but my snails are eating them and cruising right along looking for more. My emerald crab is eating them like I eat doughnuts.
