I've got this hard orange algae growing on my favia rock, it's overtaken some of the zoas on that rock and I would like to get it off.

Any idea on what it is and how to remove it?

That belongs to the Peyssonnelia sp. and can be removed manually with the help of a utility knife or razor blade and you can do this even the the coral is out of water for a short period of time ( like 5 min. not under strong light and dip the coral in water again if the time is not enough to finish the work ).

AQ good scrub with toothbrush, finger nails, etc, and a little H2O2 etc with a paint brush to dab on the infested areas, stay away from the Zoo's, you do not want to harm them on the edges.
