Can anybody ID this for me? It sprang up almost overnight on a few rocks.

That structure-shape, thickness, and rigidity-I circled goes against EVERY description of hair algae I have ever read, seen, or encountered in the past 8 years.

Looks like a caulerpa mexicana or paspaloides. My best guess.

I would say either a Caulerpa or a Bryopsis.
