I got the brown diatoms, the green hair algae but no red cyano in my new tank. Started to see some red coloration on the dead rock and it doesn't come off with a toothbrush but it isn't the normal round disks of coralline algae, it is a really faint covering of the rock. What is it?
Funny notes. I put kalk past on a seashell to kill a Majano that had climbed on it. Within a week coralline algae covered the spot where the kalk had been. Also I have clear spots of coralline growing on the walls of my protein skimmer.
