On one of my live rocks I've got this reddish branching growth. Is this plant or algae? And more importantly (it's starting to spread to other rocks) is it beneficial or harmful?
Thats what it looks to me as well. I had some come with live rock for my FOWLR and it slowly disappeared before I could harvest some for my Fuge. I would personally not want it in my DT for appearance sake.Originally posted by alextheromanian
to me it looks like the red seaweeds...i think its called OGO plants...i think petco sells them for a dollar a bush...
snails so far have loved them and i think tangs do too.
if i am right what id do is let it grow and then movie it into a sump fuge whatever have you...since it could help absorb junk in the water and keep the GHA from growing
again...this is on the assumption that its this ogo plant but im not sure since it looks so beat up

I'll never understand all of you that think plants belong in the sump. I LOVE all my plants. My tanks are becoming more and more about the plants and less about rock and even the fish. I just wish there were greater varieties available.

Well little by little the diversity is coming. I have ordered a lot of fuge packages online through ebay and everyone has managed to send me something I didn't have before.
I'll look up that other forum. I forget how big this place is.

I have both, a yellow and a powder blue. The powder blue is by far my favorite of the two. I've had the yellow longer but my PBT has alot more character than my yellow.Originally posted by hypersonic
My next arrival was going to be a tang...so that's good to hear. Any opinions on the blue vs yellow tangs? I'm leaning towards a blue since the yellow ones are so common....
