Algae Outbreak PLEASE help!!!

I've had good luck using AlgaeFix Marine. The only downside to using it though was my chaeto didn't fair well and I had to replace it. To me it was worth it. Just a thought.

UPDATE! Here is my tank 2 weeks later. I cleaned half the rock with peroxide one week and the rest a week later. I seen no mini cycle and everything seems to be doing great. All water parameters are in check, .02 p04, 0 nitrate, 8.7 alk, 450 ca, and 1330 mg. Hopefully I can keep the algae under control.

Looks great. But since you've fixed your algae issue, I think we should talk about your aquascaping. It just looks like one big pile of rocks. You can defintiely make for a more interesting look and a more interesting home for those fish and give them some things to swim through and around. At the very least, if your rocks are small and hard to sculp into any shapes, you could just make two piles instead of one. It will make a big difference aesthetically.

It is a big pile of rocks. I was not sure if they were going to have to come out again while I was cleaning them so I just stacked them back in there. I know some alreadyneed to come back out for another cleaning. The dead algae is blowing around the tank and sticking to the rocks. I was hoping to do 2 islands, one small and one big but I am waiting to see how this algae things goes before I spend a lot of time on aquascaping....which is obviously not my strong point.

what everyone else said is true, there is no secret chemical that will kill the algae, it takes slow and deliberate work. I have been caring for the tank here where I work for over a year and only in the past several weeks has everything come under control. It has not been an easy journey but I have learned a lot from my exploits.

You could try setting up a refugium and growing macro algae that will absorb the nutrients. That however is another set of headaches, but in my case it was the biggest help in getting rid of my algae problem.
