algae scrubber

I am interested as well. I go to pick up a 210 gallon tank this weekend in Arkansas and when I set this up I am going to do a scrubber, mangrove type system. Being a plumber I can think of all sorts of creative ways to hang and water the system.

Reading through the 90 some odd pages of that thread I linked, I saw some good ideas, enough that i think I know how I would go about it, simple verticle extension of the 20g sump over the refugium section (which is the end of the tank, not in the middle as commonly seen).

I like the look of some mangrove setups, but never really be interested in that sort of plant in my marine systems, makes me just want to play with planting in a freshwater tank when i see em :)

grats on the 210g, better do us the favor of a tank build log with lots and lots of pictures!!! ;)

Will certainly do on the pics. Already started a before stage, as I have a fish room behind the tank. Gonna start on building the stand tonight.

The mangrove will be more for asthetics only. It will be in a 55 to 75 gallon tank right beside the DT.

I'm with you on the scrubber above the fuge. I think that I am going that route with the water falling into one end of the fuge.

THAT sounds like a rockin' idea, can't wait to see pics. I've seen a few other dedicated mangrove "sumps" before and they look awesome, much better than a couple little stalks stuck in a regular fuge.
