Algae Turf Scrubber

Can someone please explain an algae turf scrubber to me. I have googled and read everything that came up and still dont completely understand. They all talk about teter-tater and I dont understand how the water does this.

if you dont get an answer here try contacting Inland Aquatics .thats how they filter there water.they say no water changes in years.

I did tons of research years ago on algae turf scrubbers and was certain that I would get one for my tank. After years of patent issues and manufacturing issues it was nearly impossible to purchase a unit. I haven't heard anyone mention a turf scrubber in a long time.

Basically, the unit has a screen that grows algae. Water is pumped up to the filter box and the box fills up with water and then the unit dumps the water back into the tank like a teeter toter. It all works from the weight of the water. It is difficult to explain without see it in action. It is a pretty simple design but it never really caught on.

Is anyone still using the ATS with success?????......It makes perfect sense as to how it would be effective
