Algae

my tank has been up for about 3 weeks and i am gettin some brown algae in my sand and is now on my live rock
i have about 15 blue leg hermit crabs
is there anything else that will help control it

This will happen with a new tank. Give it time and it should go away. Maybe cut back on the lighting for a while if you don't have any corals.

Do a search for "Diatoms" Very normal for a new tank and should go away in time as Ray said.

Can siphon off and water changes with RODI water will help.
