algea problem

can any one tell me how to keep this type of sea grass algea in check it gets like 3 inches long and takes over my zoos and live rock

Can you post a picture?

In general, you can try to eliminate a pest alga by adding other nutrient export mechanisms. A refugium for growing and harvesting a macroalga like Chaetomorpha is one idea.

You might also have other tank conditions that are helping the alga to grow. Can you describe your setup?

Does the algae look like either of these?

I have the same algae problem. I have exactly what those two pictures are showing. I have been told to try more blue lighting as the hair algae doesn't like it, and keep an eye on the nitrates (or nitrites....never remember which). I will let you know of my results. ldm
