Hey guys just wondering what I should be shooting for when it comes to alk and cal values. I've always thought I wanted 10.5 dhk and 450-480 ca regardless what my P04 and NO3 is. Recently I added a 2 part dosing system while im waiting for the CA to come down (500+ right now :headwally:) my Alk fluctuates from 9.8 to 10.4 during the course of the day. Is this to high?

you need to shoot for Natural Salt water values. where corals are from.

CA++ at 420 PPM.

now if you have LOW nutritions system, like carbon dosing [vodka or pellets or ... ] then you should go with KH of 7 dkh. which would need MG of about 1250 PPM/

if higher nutrition tank, then you can keep KH at 9 dKH [close to what most salt mixes mix to ] which would been MG of about 1300 PPM
