alk in fowlr

Just wondering if alkalinity has to be monitored in a fowlr tank. If so, is adding buffer salt sufficient? Any need to dose calcium? TIA.

yes alkalinity levels can affect fish. Ideally try and keep it between 8-11 dkh.
I would use Kent Super dkH--very effective. There is a dosing calculator on the reef chemistry forum that will tell you how much you can dose at one time to bring up the dkH

Calcium is not a real concern--regular water changes with a good salt mix will keep it where it should be
