Alk / pH when implementing Hypo Salinity?

Hi Folks,

Ok - so I am just getting the hang of reef chemistry - particularly the addition of baking soda to raise alkalinity.....

So, when I am doing hypo, if I just add raw RO water, surely that is going to lower pH considerably? Should I dose the raw water with bi-carb?

I didn't specially raise the alk or ph during the two times when I treated my hippo and blue-eye tang with hypo and they are happy and healthy now. However I did monitor alk and ph every time after I brought down the salinity a little bit and I took the longer process (5 days) to achieve the ideal 1.009. As long as they are within the safe range, I prefer not to add those chemicals into the tank ....my opinion.
