I checked my alk and it was at 8...after using buffer it's gone up to 10 dkh but my star polyps look shriveled...did I raise it too fast? If so, what's the best way to raise it without causing too much distress?

Changes in water parameters often cause effects in corals, I wouldn't worry about it as they should open back up shortly.
