Alk Supplements?

How long has you tank been set up with fish and corals. Are you using live rock and aragonite sand?
What is your photoperiod?
And when you do water changes do you gravel vacuum the sand?
Make sure the top of the water is really rippling by like an extra power head.
This with help gas off CO2 and maintain your Alk.
Do you have any green algae issues?
Also I would avoid buying pre made water. And if you are buying water from a LFS take a minute to check out their tanks. Make sure their husbandry skills are up to par before taking any advice from them. Like if they have red slime and weird Algae in their tanks or their animals look sketchy definitely don't buy your water there. I would recommend Get a hight quality salt. I'm partial to Brightwells Neomarine. Then buy R/O water from a water store , there's a good one on the corner if Summerfield and Montgomery in SR. This way you have control of your water and get it to the exact parameters that you need.
Sorry about the rant. Hope that this made sense.

Oh, no apologies necessary!

It's been set up since last January.

Live rock from Drs.F&S, and aragonite sand.

Photo-period is from 3pm to 11pm.

I vacuum rocks, but not sand when I do changes, it's sugar sand, so it gets sucked up.

No algae issues.

Water is aerated with a power head and heated to match tank temp.

I'll probably be buying salt and be mixing my own then. I've been taking the easy way out and just buying water, which isn't going to fly anymore now that I'm accumulating more SPS.

I'm in the same boat as you with salt. Been getting mine at the same place about 50% of the time and another LFS the other half. From what I was told, most the LFS around here get it from the same person, and that Caesars uses neomarine in their own tanks, which imo look the most consistently healthy around here. I was thinking of trying it but it's a healthy expense when I'm only using 2gal at a time... Maybe we should split some?

I can honestly recommend neo marine products just about done with my first bucket. Very consistent parameter wise from first scoop to last crumb. Runs at 420 ppm calc and 7.5 alk I also started using brightwell mag. And once I am done with my esv 2 part I am switching to brightwell 2 part. Imo I would just buy your buckets it a little costly in the beginning but at 2 gallons a week the bucket should last 2 years I got a year out of mine at 5 gallons a week

I really like having control over my salt. And I get that with the neo marine There are some brands out there when you mix them the Ca is well over 480.0ppm and Alk above 9.0 dKH. I try to match the new saltwater going in my tank with the levels of my tank. And I can't do that if the salt I'm using has already over shot the values of my tank water. You can always adjust up but you can't adjust down.
