I had a dip in Alk due to increased coral growth and new coral additions.I went to do a water change on friday and measured the alk at 6. I didnt account for the added alk demand and my alk dipped . I raised it back up to 8 over the course of 3 days (too fast i guess) and now my Cali Tort and Hawkins is showing signs of stress. Its been a week since I identified the issue and resolved the low reading by adding more alk 2 part. These corals have been STN since monday evening/tuesday morning. Theres still flesh but some flesh has come off a couple of tips of the tort and a slight base recession on the hawkins has occured.
SHould I frag them or hold out for the coral stop STN from the alk burn and then heal on their own??
Everything was going great until I screwed this up and added the alk too fast. I should have just raised my doser to account for the increase and then in a couple weeks reduce it to the level of demand in the tank but the Tort was looking weak which is what prompted the first test last Friday.
