Alkalinity Question

How do people keep their alkalinity and calcium up, without a calcium reactor, when leaving the tank for a few days? I am trying to decide if I should add a type of buffer to the topoff system water. I dont have any dosing pump setups either. Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to keep alk and calcium stable when leaving for a few days?

I guess it's going to depend in-part on what kind of top-off system you have, but the simple answer would be to add some kalk (Calcium Hydroxide) to your top-off water. I'd advise getting a high quality test kit to determine how much to add, because you probably wont need much if this is for a 29g tank.
