Because there's no dedicated thread to any info on keeping sea stars in captivity I thought I'd make one. Post any success stories or lessons you have learned in keeping them. I have a red sea star coming tomorrow from LiveAquaria and I'm hoping to keep it alive.

Fromia sp. have terrible survival rate and require special care in well established tanks. Same for certain linkcias. There are success stories and it is indeed possible if your tank is established long enough and large enough.

Sandsifters often starve in our aquariums eventually after sometime. Some success stories but not guarenteed ones.

IME, Chocolate chip stars are prone to losing their chips and eventually melting away.. half of my stock up for harlequin shrimp died by losing chips.. and then melting to nothing over the next few days.. no clue why.. contagius disease maybe?

If I recall correctly, there was a thread about sea stars eating asterina starfish. Search for that and you may find it interesting.
