I'm looking for the all around cheapest but best camera to take macros and close ups with great quality. thanks all!

The best camera isn't going to be the cheapest and the cheapest isn't going to be the best. If you can give a price range of what you're willing to spend that will help narrow the field down and so that folks aren't recommending a DSLR when you've got a P&S budget (or visa versa).

My suggestion would be a D200 with a Sigma 105 macro lens. The D200 is a great camera and with the folks upgrading to the D300 there are a lot of gently used cameras on the market right now. But even that might be more than you're looking to spend.

I'm looking to spend around 300 that's probally the most I can spend right now, i'm saving up to buy my first home right now, money is limited but I can still spend around 300 and be ok. the d200 is way out of my price range. I'll be able to afford something like that in about 3 years when i graduate college but now right now.

You should take a look at Canon's A720is I've read pretty good reviews on it and it seems to take decent macros as well.

take a look at the canon 300d. i just picked one up on craigslist for $150 and it came with the stock 18-55mm lens. it is 6+MP and pretty good quality to boot. keep in mind that is the cheapest i have ever seen one. most are going for $300
