All-In-One Seahorse tank

I saw that. I am skeptical about its value, though. Does it even include a chiller? The desktop unit is also too small for the most common species of seahorses, so... I guess I just don't see the point of having a tank that essentially works like a kriesel for seahorses- seahorses don't need gentle flow like jellyfish do, and while they shouldn't be kept in torrential conditions, they appreciate a nice current to go play in. It was a nice idea, though.

Pretty sure just using a Bio-cube with a skimmer in the back would work just as well. I know seahorses aren't strong swimmers, but it's not like they need next to no flow... Just gentle water. You can aim the outlet at the side to reduce the flow a bit.

Huh, it's kind of a weird little design. All that work to only get a 22x turnover seems rather silly to me, and from the article it does not look like it addresses the main purpose for water movement that is unique to seahorses. At that sticker price you'd expect at least an ice probe chiller IMO.

I kinda wanna play with one.

Agreed. The prices are outrageous. But, nonetheless, it's a pretty sweet looking tank.

Not a fan of table/desktop tanks. Would rather have a stand with it.

Why would you spend that kind of money to raise fry?
You can raise benthic fry like erectus in standard small aquariums.

I've been in touch with Reef Eden, and I understand his perspective; it's all hand built and CNC milled rather than built overseas with cheap parts.

That being said, I have the impression it's pretty much untested, at least over the long term. I have a hard time seeing it work well. Or at least better than any other all-in-one systems. The tray of substrate strikes me as extra weird.

I could almost see spending that kind of money on a good system; we frequently spend that much building a system from scratch, especially using premium parts. But with a custom built system, you can change things if it doesn't work. Not so much for an all-in-one.

I suspect the Kreisel flow design is a "if all you have is a hammer, all the world is a nail" type issue.

I'll be interested to see how it does. I think the market could use a seahorse-kit. I guess time will tell how well it actually ends up working.
