definitely not granulosa, i crossed that one off the list first due to what all the books say
granulosa found on reef slopes protected from wave action, i found it in 4 m of water, on the weather face of the reef where it would get rumbled by waves
and the corallite structure is is not the same
It does look a lot like granulosa but not exactly. Could just be from weird growing conditions or could be a new species. It will be interesting to see what it does in your tank.
Stick with going to the marine biologists. No one except for a handful of people on here have ever seen anything in it wild environment. Everything that anyone here has ever touched goes through the hands of several middle-men who take absolutely everything rare for themselves or friends. As an avid diver that has been in every tropical sea, I am voting for a new species or a previously described species that thrived in a habitat that it hasn't been collected in before. Very very cool find.
