Hi, I have a question for all of you, does anybody else have large amounts of alage growing in there overflow? Will this go away as the tank matures? What about putting macro alage in the overflow would this help anything?

Just need some thoughts really. Thanks.

I keep my overflow covered up. You need to keep light out of the overflow. The algae will eventually plug the drain if you let it grow. Macro would also plug the drain.

I use my overflow as a fuge. haven't had any problems in over a year. Just keep the drain clear.

dugg, what do you use to cover your overflow with? I don't want it to melt.

And what if I placed macro alage in a net then in the overflow?

it doesn't matter where you place the macro algae. (except for proximity to a light source). The macro algae is used to pull nutrients from the water and as long as it is in the same system, you can put it anywhere in the tank or in a fuge.
