Not sure what happening , with all my zoas.
My Red Devil pe just died today and all my other zoas are half opening. They where growing very well before. Went from 1 polyp to many polyps.
Just checked my parameters today to make sure and the numbers are just like always.
Sps , lps , mushrooms are doing great , it is just the zoas. There is no zoa pox . They are like this for 3 days now.

ammonia 0 , nitrite 0 , nitrate 0.2 , phosphate 0.03 , calcium 420 , KH 8 , magnesium 1320 .

This colony is in the tank 5 months and went from 1 polyp to this

have you changed lighting before or recently?

What tank inhabitants do you have

Haven't change anything on the tank for 6 months. Haven't put any new inhabitants in the tank after the zoas. So not sure what it's happening.

The only thing that is see is I see tons of very big amphipods crawling over my zoas at night.

Do you feed them? Have there been any changes to your water parameters recently? Do you do regular water changes (size & frequency)?

yes i feed them once a week and my parameters are always the same , very stable . I do weekly 10% wc

large ampipods ( certain ones ) have been known to take a go on zoanthids... search here on RC, you'll see stories of people seeing them tearing into Zs at night time.

Anything that will eat those large amphipods? I don't think a fish can help my problem , because they are hiding at day time and coming out at night time and fishes are sleeping then.

wrasses usually yellow coris, green sea grass, and 6line ( least pick ) hunt all day.

not much any fish out there that hunts pods at night

Try two dragonets they will wipe out everyone of them

a 100gal with sump can support only 1 dragonet after it matures for a year.. don't just get 2...

a wrasse can easily take out the pods and keep the tank bug free.. and still survive off of pellets

I have seen lot of huge pods crawling around zoas and rocks.. they are not eating it..

so can a mandarin if you take the care , i kept three different species in a 25g cube for a long time by training them to eat prepared foods:)

i agree dragonettes wont eat large amphipods

Thats hard to do, I had 2 I trained to eat soft sinking pellets, frozen Cyclopeeze and frozen brine. Lost both to previous tank crashes.

Now hard to find one that may accept training. don't want to risk getting one, having it die as it won't accept prepared foods.

absolutely .....it is tough and most arnt interested in our foods out of the box , some species take to training better than others as well. ive had great results training new dragonettes in very small tanks with no other competition for food , no flow and not hanging around to watch ..... consistency and variety are the trick .

none the less it is very possible to get all species on prepared foods then they are rather easy to take care of , many have been able to do this ...... simply dumping one in a tank and hoping it can get by on live foods isnt a good idea and isnt right to the fish for sure :)

I recently got a mandarin due to large isopods harassing my zoa's. My zoa's are all opening now. Made a pod home for the fuge thought to transport in more pods >.<

Day, night- it didn't seem to matter to my pods

They were out all the time. Just had to look close enough to see if they were on the colonies somewhere.
